In order to keep Poodll data confined to a particular region, you should:
  • Set the correct AWS region
  • Disable Red5 or select a Red5 server in your region

Set the Correct AWS Region

Poodll supports the following AWS regions:

  • North Virginia (USA)
  • Tokyo (Japan)
  • Dublin (Ireland)
  • Sydney (Australia)

Uploads and processing will all take place in the confines of the chosen region.

Select your region via the Poodll filter settings at:

Site administration -> Plugins -> Filters -> Poodll -> General Settings

Disable Red5 or Select a Red5 server

Red 5 is an older technology which Poodll can use for video recording on browsers which support Flash but not HTML5. Poodll has only two Red5 servers, one in Tokyo (Japan) and one in Dublin (Ireland.

To select the Red5 server region

This is set independent of the AWS region. At:

Site administration -> Plugins -> Filters -> Poodll -> General Settings

Either set the Poodll Host Address to:

tokyo.poodll.com

Or

ireland.poodll.com

To disable Red recording

In many cases it is going to be fine to simply remove it from the list of recording options. You can instruct Poodll to never show Flash audio and video recorders. To do that first go to  the Poodll filter general settings:

Site administration -> Plugins -> Filters -> Poodll -> General settings

And there remove Red5 and FlashAudio from the preferred recorder order settings for each recording type.
It will probably look like this:

In cases where HTML5 recording is not available the user will only have the option to upload a file from their PC.
